Another previous dance partner........

I'm so excited - we learned recently that one of my best friends from high school and the person I danced with at our Pops Concerts all four years is actually going to be able to attend Fort Wayne Dancing with the Stars!

Stan is coming up for another event in Indy that just happens to be the very same weekend. So I'll really be having my "peeps" in the audience to help support and cheer on "team Donna"! We're so excited - Stan said on the phone recently, "well, we were going to surprise you, but I thought that would freak you out!" - and it completely would have.....I love surprises, but not on a night when I should be concentrating 100%. Here are a few photos from 1976-1979 - the dancing years of Dancing Donna and Dancing Stan - a ballroom dance with the jazz band backing us up live (Glenn Miller lives on!), a disco number (it was the 70's - what did you expect? And I would kill to have that waist size again!) and a crazy dance with black lights and an Electric Light Orchestra mix by the late Larry Reed (those are icicles that are sparkling that my mom sewed onto the end of white gloves as part of our costume - and those are fishnet hose). We had so much fun back then - and it's incredibly special that Stan and Kent will be "in the house" and there for me!

A previous dance partner.......

My sister-in-law Gail and I exchange frequent emails due to her living almost 12 hours away in Wisconsin, and recently she sent me what she called a "motivational photo" (shown) for me to think about as I practiced my dancing. This one is of me dancing with her husband John at their wedding.
Now John is a big fan of most types of music - Frank Sinatra, standards, and he and I love to belt them out at a moment's notice when the family is together. At his wedding, he sang "On the Street Where You Live" to his lovely bride during the reception. We cook and eat and laugh a lot when the four of us are together. But John has another side to him that is even more interesting - check out Major John Plaster's website at www.UltimateSniper.com. Major John has a bio too lengthy to recount here (but definitely worth the read on his website). He is a national media source for sniping information, a highly regarded author, a great American, a wonderful brother-in-law, and a DGD (darn good dancer!). Do check out his website when you have a chance.

Sponsorship and Table Reservations Needed Now!

Reservations for "Dancing Donna" tables are now being accepted and we still are looking for a few sponsors!

As a sponsor, you can receive viral marketing for your business or organization, have fun at the event and pre-event party, or secure additional votes for Donna - depending on the level of sponsorship you select. All sponsorship money goes directly to support the Carriage House (make sure your check is made payable to Carriage House, but mail to Dennis in care of Emley Design Group so we're sure it gets applied to "Dancing Donna"). MIA.......

I know, I know, if you have a blog, you're supposed to, well, blog......and I've been missing in action. But it's not for lack of thinking about it all, it's just that I've been busy with things......including dancing!

We were in Chicago for a long weekend with friends in late August and took in two concerts at Ravinia - the wonderful outdoor theater up on the north shore of Chicago. If you haven't ever been, you simply must go sometime - concerts every night all summer long, great diversity of performers - truly something for everyone - and you can sit and enjoy in the covered seating area, or picnic on the grounds.

Even when jamming to George Thorogood and the Destroyers (Bad to the Bone), Bonnie Riatt, and Taj Mahal, my mind still was doing some of the new steps I've been learning in my mind. Visualizing and that sort of practicing right now has been approved.

Practice each week continues to be a blast!
