Francine's Friends mobile mammography coach celebrated its 5th anniversary with a "5 Days with Friends" and our annual fundraiser breakfast on Oct. 9th. To date, nearly 10,000 women have been screened on the coach. The mission of Francine's Friends is to make early detection of breast cancer available to EVERY woman in Fort Wayne and the surrounding area, regardless of her ability to pay. This year was a special celebration for our all-volunteer board, our community partners (Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center and Breast Diagnostic Center), our presenting sponsor (PHP Foundation), all the breakfast sponsors past and present, our wonderful survivors and the over 500 women who were in attendance at the breakfast. This year we raised over $120,000 to help fund mammograms.
Also, always on hand to MC the breakfast was Linda Jackson, a Francine's Friend and a fellow dancer. We compared dancing and costume notes, plus practice scheduled. Remember, she's originally from Peru - that circus town - YIKES! What a great person she is.......she always hosts us on her community program and helps get the word out for us.
